This
weekend, Max had the opportunity to play in a soccer tournament here in Hong
Kong. He was super excited, as it was just him and not his big brother.
Sometimes, it is nice for him to not be overshadowed by Jack and enjoy
being in the spotlight, particularly with sport. As Jack plays in a
squad, he was not allowed to play in this tournament.
It
was rather strange to notice that we were the only 'whole' family to attend the
mini-tournament. Most players only had one parent (usually Dad) attending
and supporting them. This is something that we are not used to and feel
it's very important that each of the boys support each other in whatever they
do. That doesn't mean that we do everything as a family but I like that
we spend time together cheering each other on.
The
tournament was put together by the soccer club that the boys play for, but Max
only knew one of the other boys in his team. It didn't worry him at all,
and I love that he is so comfortable in himself that he just gets on with it
and has a great time chatting with them and enjoying the team time.
His
first touch of the ball and he scored - so that made for a positive start.
He went on to score another goal and was close to scoring a screamer of a
penalty goal that hit the top righthand post. He played really well and
ended up making it to the final. Unfortunately, they weren't strong
enough in the final and ended up being runners up. We are loving the boys
being part of organised sport again here in Hong Kong, and look forward to more
competitions in the future.
I
am now going to bore you with lots of photos of our little 'Noodle' (something
he is asking me not to call him any more..... growing up too quickly!)
