The ongoing saga of the pain in my left foot continues. I have had so many different diagnoses and treatments, spent WAY too much money and still am in constant pain. No running and very little walking now is not helping the middle-age-spread !!
So, obviously being in the Chinese region it was time to try some Chinese medicine - acupuncture! So I put the feelers out to find someone that could be trusted to stick needles in me ....... and I was told there as a good acupuncturist in Sai Kung that spoke good English. Always handy when you're trying to let a person know where to 'fix'.
The directions I got were: the building next to the Community Centre. I had a vague idea where the Community Centre was and I didn't think there were ANY buildings near it - oh yes there is, a mobile demountable building - and its a Chinese hospital. OK, lets give it a go, what have I got to lose?
When I went in there to make an appointment, there was only one young lady there and she could speak very broken English. I managed to get my message across and booked an appointment for the next Tuesday. I asked if the doctor would be able to help with my foot and it worked out that 'she' was the actual doctor. So, yes, she was confident she could help.
Arriving back on Tuesday and below are the photos of the place I found myself. Explaining the condition of my foot and how I have been treated previously was 'interesting', to say the least. Broken English doesn't help when trying to ask and answer medical questions. After a bit of a chat, she then asked to hold my wrist and look at my tongue. 'You don't sleep well, and you have lots of dreams', she said. Then she asked about my digestion and wanted to chat about that for a while. I started to be concerned on what part of me was going to be 'needled' !!
I was then asked to move through to the treatment room and we started the procedure. I have now been for two sessions and happy to report that my foot is no worse - not necessarily much better but no worse. As this has been a 2 year problem, I suppose I have to appreciate that it will be a longer term problem to solve. Watch this space!
