Bring on the footie - but which sort ???

One of the many things the boys have been super keen to do again since moving to HK, was to play AFL.  It was on our very long list of things to do over the last couple of weeks, and Mike managed to squeeze it in last week, and the boys had their first kick around on Saturday.

They are playing for the Sai Kung Stingrays who are our local club and are reasonably small from what we are used to in Sydney.  Unfortunately, their uniform is not 'Swans' and more like Port Adelaide..... eeeckk! Oh well, they haven't received it yet, so they turned up in their red and white on the weekend and we had many comments..... not many Swans supporters amongst the crowd.

I'm happy to report that both boys were stars and are likely to both have to play up a year.  The kicking in the garden has recommenced and my washing load has increased and requires lots of scrubbing and soaking.

However, AFL is never enough.  We have signed the boys up for soccer as well.  Tonight was their first go and they loved it.  It was of a great standard and the boys are going to have to work hard to stay amongst it.  They have only played soccer for the last 18 months in India, so I'm not surprised that they need to hone their skills.

The coach is a young Italian guy, and both boys thought he was great, and have taken away 'things' to work on during the week.  Soccer (football) is probably the most popular code of football for kids in Hong Kong, and all the kids participating seem to be really in to it.  Most of the kids were expats which is nice for the boys to have the multi-cultural exposure they are now used to from living in India.

Jack has also asked if he can try Rugby, but that starts later in the year.  Not sure if Max wants to give it a go - but what is good for the goose......

It is a lovely thing to be back being a 'footie' mum - well for now anyway.  I hope that I can get to spend some more time with the boys and their extra curricular activities while we are in HK - it should be easier to find the time and they are certainly wanting to try lots of new things.

Our other big news is that both boys are now at the same school - woo hoo !  So I took a snap of the boys on their first day together.  The commute is now no longer crazy and it is a 2 minute walk to the bus - thank goodness.
