Settling in....

We have started the process of settling in to Hong Kong life, although it is in our serviced apartment in North Point and not our home.  We have spent the last couple of days looking at houses and cars and are happy to report that we have secured a house and also leased a car.  The house will be ready for us just before our shipment arrives, and the car will be picked up then too.  The house is located in Ng Fai Tin in Clearwater Bay - the map below shows where that is.

So, now it is time to get these boys happy in HK and then get them to school !!  We went hunting for a few things yesterday, one being a selfie stick, and that nearly tipped Mike over the edge - see below !  So, lucky he started at work today, and the boys and I went exploring.

The boys were super keen to find some open space and kick a ball, so that was today's challenge.  We went east towards Quarry Bay and found a fabulous park and playground.  The all weather football pitch was only available for full teams and you had to book ahead, but we managed to find some space nearby and the boys had lots of fun have a kick around.  I ran the stairs next to the park to keep moving.......

After that we wandered back towards the station and in the shopping centre was an ice skating arena. The boys were mesmerised by it see all the kids jumping and spinning, and I surprised them with offering them the chance to have a go.  They jumped in with both feet and were super confident - that was until they first stepped on to the ice.  As funny as it was to see them fall, it was incredibly cool to watch them catch on quickly and soon be cruising around without holding on.  They are very keen to go back, and maybe next time not in shorts and t-shirts !

The boys are also impressed with the MTR in Hong Kong - the ability to get anywhere so quickly and fully air-conditioned, has made them happy to explore.  The added bonus of feeling very grown up with their own Octopus card to access the trains, has helped.  The huge numbers of people haven't really daunted them, but the pace of the city has been a bit overwhelming. I am trying to avoid peak hour so they can get used to it and it is also helping them learn the lay of the city and how to work out with stop and which exits to use.  I am hoping to give them a step in the right direction of finding their way in strange places when they grow up and go exploring on their own.

They are loving the cleanliness of the city, and the access to all the great fresh foods.  We have eaten in the apartment most nights to allow the boys to choose their favourite meals for mum to cook.  It's not cheap but just the ability to get everything puts a smile on their faces.  And when they find something Australian, it's like Christmas has come.

Until next time ........

Yeah, Max and Mike were not playing nice.....
