Connecticut and New York City

After our week in Boston, we made our way down to Darien, Connecticut, where our friends live.  What a beautiful part of America, and their place was just perfect for some time to chill out - and I'm not surprised to say that the pool was a HUGE hit with the boys (and me).  We enjoyed having a few days of downtime and proper catch ups with the Dickinson's. We got to celebrate Alison's birthday with a lovely afternoon at the beach, watching the sun go down and sharing lots of laughs.

When Mike joined us in Connecticut on the Friday, we managed another afternoon at the beach, eating pizza with a few drinks and teaching the locals some true 'Australianisms'.  On the Saturday, we made our way in to New York City to see the Yankees play against the SF Giants (again). It was a fun night in extremely hot conditions, but sadly, the Yankees didn't win even in an extra innings.  The new Yankee stadium was fabulous to visit and has a great atmosphere.

We had such fun times with the Dickinson's and their neighbours during our week there.  While we experienced more of the day to day life of living in America, we were also lucky enough to experience the BBQ delicacy of S'mores - Graham Crackers, a sliver of Hersheys chocolate and toasted marshmallow stacked together in all its gooey goodness.  - mmmmmm.  We also took the kids down to the local sports centre and had some fun in the baseball batting cages - the boys are now mad baseball fans and desperately want to play in HK.

We managed two more trips into New York City to complete our bucket list of:

Staten Island Ferry
Statue of Liberty
Wall Street
9/11 Memorial
The Natural History Museum
Central Park
Times Square (including Hershey World and M&M World)
Empire State Building
Brooklyn Bridge
The High Line

We managed to fit all of the above in while doing endless miles of walking.  The boys loved NYC and we look forward to visiting again some time soon.   Even if it is just for some more 'Shake Shack' - Max's new favourite burger joint.

Our next stop was Detroit to visit more friends, our neighbours from India, Sheila and Ed.
